Our Very First Job Fair

This coming Tuesday (June 26th, 2007) we will be exhibiting at our first ever job fair. As I understand, we will have a recruiting booth at the Post News Job Fair here in Denver.

Naturally, I am skeptical as to whether this will be worth our time but my marketing goddess - Emily Bearden - assures me it will be a winner. Spending money on something like this represents something of a milestone for us - we will actually be giving away pens with our logo on them.

Now, the last job fair I attended was in high school so I would like to have readers post their personal job fairs experiences (fond memories, embarrassing moments, humorous anecdotes, etc.)

In the interest of irreverent humor, our signage will be focused on The Top Ten Reasons You DON'T Want a Sales Job - enjoy

---

#10 ‘My inner child is too sensitive to handle rejection.’

#9 ‘I consider myself more of a ‘9 to 5 corporate suck-weasel.’

#8 ‘Oh jeez, I would but my dialing finger is broken.’

#7 ‘I much prefer working in a career that is being sent overseas.’

#6 ‘All that time without a job allowed my to catch up on episodes of Dirty Jobs and I decided I would rather be a crime scene cleaner.’

#5 ‘It makes more sense if someone else has power over my future.’

#4 ‘Talking to other people is scary and I need a hug.’

#3 ‘But I am getting good at saying – would you like some pastry with your mocha today?’

#2 ‘Job security – who needs that?’

...and the number one reason you DON’T want a Career in sales is...

‘I really don’t like making piles of money.’

We are not only giving away cool pens... we also have mini-first aid kits with our logo! It will be a good test if nothing else ... but I expect some good things to come out of it, both on the recruiting and business side.

Do you accept all applicants into the training program?
If not, why would someone be rejected? Please be specific.

What 3 characteristics are most common in those who are successful in the course and beyond. (Besides liking 'piles of money')?
